RSS stands for either Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication. It is essentially a web feed of frequently-updated information, like blog posts and news headlines.
RSS allows websites to syndicate their content automatically. Subscribing to an RSS feed eliminates the need to constantly check the website for updated content.
